1. Render queue is it gives us total control over how you export your animations. You select a composition in the timeline panel and go to add to render queue.

2. Resolution means in aftereffects is it changes the size of the image by full or half.

3. You use clip notes as a way to use pdf technology to be able to send your video for client review. Other programs in AE is QuickTime or Window Media. Clip notes work by pass-wording the created pdf.

4. To export multiple sources, select output module and hit render. It duplicates as many files as it needs.

5. The shortcut to add a sequence to the render Que. is command + shift + forward slash.

6.  Choosing the compression type plays the biggest role in quality and file size when exporting.

7. CODEC stands for Compression, decompress.

8. The purpose of the dialogue in Adobe Media Encoder is to output content for outer out sources.

9. Device central allows you to preview content on mobile devices.

1. To import a PS file into after effects, you click the file one, and then you import as composition.

2. If you choose composition from the import then you will bring it the layers in the right order and size. Composition cropped layers will bring the layers at the size of every layer, not the document. Footage will allow you to merge layers, you can bring in only 1 layer if you want.

3. After effects will recognize layers, visibility, opacity, layer blend modes, alpha channels, layer masks, and adjustment layers.

4. To apply layer styles in after effects, R-click, then go to layer styles.

5. To make text layers coming from PS editable in after effects, go to layer, and select make editable text.

6. To export a frame as a layered PS file, go to composition, go to save frame as, and then PS layers.

7. Some creative things you can do going between after effects and PS are, is making the layers more fixed with photoshop.

1. One tool that lets you see the audio is you go and click on the square on the very left.  This is the speaker icon. It allows you to view the audio. If you want to preview the audio, hit the period key on the keyboard.

2. Markers allows you to preview the audio at certain spots. It is on the right and it has a little arrow. As you drag them across, they will have numbers on them.

3. Two audio effects are delay and backwards. Backwards plays the tune backwards and delay just plays it normally.

4. You create audio to keyframes by right clicking on the audio clip, then go to keyframe assistant, and then go convert audio to keyframes.

5. An example of how you use keyframes and expressions to create audio driven effects are by hitting the u key. Then once you play it, the numbers bellow resets get much bigger.

1. To work in 3D means to move things in three dimensions, they’re not actually 3D like Shrek.

2. To enable 3d you select the cube, the values are X, Y, and Z.

3. X is horizontal , Y is vertical, and Z is closer and further.

4. Red is always X, Green is always Y, and Blue is always Z.

5. You typically do not want to animate the orientation in 3D.

6. A null object is a ‘fill in’ for a regular layer. Its basically a dummy layer.

7. When you parent objects to the children layers, you give all the same attributes as the parent to the children ones.

8. 3D per character animation allows you to give 3D per character of a word.

9. Cameras and lights only work with 3D layers.

10. For a layer to to cast a shadow, all the layers must be in 3D settings, including the background.

11. View ports allow you to look at the layers in many different views, it allows you to see what’s really going on.

12. Local axis is the layers X, not in our view. The World axis mode allows you to move it according it your view.

1. You create a text box, go to horizontal type tool, then drag with the mouse to create the text box. To accept the text within the box, click enter or got to the selection tool.

2. What happens when you hold all the modifier keys (crtl+alt+shift) is it puts a cursor right in the middle to start typing.

3. Auto open panels show is when you first create your text, the character in auto panels will pop up.

4. Leading gets its name from an old printers technique where they would insert pieces of lead between type stamps so they would spread out the lines of text.

5. Tracking is essentially the space between all the characters on a line.

6. To animate text, go to the panel with the color selection tool. It has 2 squares, you are able to select different colors. You can outline the image or have a different color. You can increase the size of the fill with the stroke. You are able to adjust the text by making the text capitalized or lower case. Also you are able to click the animate button to adjust the image. You can make the image rather big.

7. What the wiggly selector does is the text fades in and out.

8. You get to text animation presets by going to file+browse, then click on presets, then open up the text folder.

9. U shows you all key frames. UU shows you all changed properties.

10. To display safe zones, you need to go to the target aim button, click it, then title action safe.

Chapter 14 and 15

1. To trim a clip, select the edge of the grey timeline and move it to the point in time that you want.

2. The keyboard shortcut to make the clip go back to frame O is option + home.

3. The keyboard shortcut to trim an inpoint is option + left bracket key, the outpoint, you do option + right bracket key. If you press I, you jump to the beginning of the clip you trimmed, O to jump to the end.

4. If you Option (Alt) double click a film clip, it will open the clip in a footage channel.

5. In the footage, you are just viewing the clip, in the layer panel, you can edit the clip and trim it.

6. The slip edit function allows you keep the in and out points the same, but start at a different part of the clip.

7. To split a layer, go to edit, and select split layer. This allows you to combine clips.

8. Stretching will allow you play a clip faster, or slower, by moving the hot text under stretch.

9. To mask objects, go to layer, and select the mode that you want.

10. To create a track mask, put the mask on top, then use the key frames.

11. A garbage mask is a mask that allows you to make track masking easier.

12. Key light allows you to change a background of a film clip.

13. To remove a green screen in AE, you need to use the key light function.

1. Shatter is an auto animating event. It brakes all the images into little pieces.

2. What camera position tells you about the effect is it is a full 3d effect.It is 3d and it has 3d cameras built into affect. There is also 3d lighting.

3. Some of the color correction tools in after affects are levels, levels (individual control), and auto levels. Another would be Hue Saturation.

4. What bridge does is it allows you to preview the content.

1. Shape layers is you can create them for nothing. It allows you to create different shapes.

2. The puppet tool allows you to take a still image and brings it to life.

3. Brainstorm tool allows us to experiment affects and properties of animations.

4. What you can do with the paint tool is by clicking on the layer panel, you are able to paint anything. You are able to change the diameter of the image. You are able to animate the stroke permitters or change the color. You can animate the colors.

5. What write on does is it records the speed you draw at and what you drew.

6. What you can do with distort effects is you can move the image in weird ways.

7. What you can do with light effects is make the layers a lot more bright.

Chapter 10

1. Parenting is when the parent moves, so does the child. If you move 1 image, the other image behind it will follow it.

2. 4 things that carry over when parenting are position, scale, rotation, and anchor point.

3. You would click and drag to change the motion path. You would click the motion key and click the end key. Go to the right and click near the numbers. Drag right and left. You need to have both of your key frames up.

4. You add keyframes by clicking the motion key and then the end key.

5. Graph editor is where it show the velocity or how fast the pixels move. You are supposed to move the curves to make it faster.Chapter 11
